Finding a tornado shelter when the sirens are announcing that a tornado is minutes away is a recipe for disaster. Don’t leave this important preparation step to the last minute. Research everything in advance. You can even keep a map with the shelters in your city in one of your pockets, in case you need it.
Whenever the sirens start, the family should know what they have to do. Try doing a few tests with them, to get the accustomed with what they need to do in the event of a tornado. The family members should know what to do if they’re alone at home and the tornado warning begins.
